Hello! My name is Jake Huber. I have been in ministry for over 16 years, and have loved every minute of it! I began this trek in 1999 when I felt the call into ministry at a small church camp in Kentucky. From there I went to Johnson Bible College (Now Johnson University), and later would finish my degree online through Grand Canyon University. I have a passion to see people live in a close and active relationship with Jesus Christ.
Kelly, my wife, has been my accountability and inspiration for sixteen years. Together, Kelly and I have four children: Mattie, Morgan, McKenna, and Landon. They keep us on our toes, but they are some of the best kids you will ever meet! We hope that our family can minister to yours! So what are some things you may want to know about me? Well, let’s start with the three essentials for ministry: Music, Food, and Fun!
Music is and always will be one of the most active parts of my life. In a book called Goliath Must Fall by Louie Giglio, he says “the soundtrack to faith is worship.” I was taught at a young age that worship has many forms, but one of my favorite forms was music. Now, make no mistake about it, I have listened to many different forms of music over the years….MANY different forms. I have a few favorite genres, both in the secular and Christian world, but find it’s much more fun to merge music when you can. From adding the opening riff to Sweet Child of Mine in a worship song to adapting a style of music to fit an old hymn, I find a way to make music active. In fact, my office usually has music on all the time! Rule number one in my house (ask my kids, It’s actually a thing) is that when you are working, you have music on!
I own a recording studio (mobile studio) and I use it in many different ways! I play drums, guitar, bass, some keys, and sing as well I am always interested in learning new styles and instruments, but life has a way of not giving you enough time.
Food! I picked up a nasty habit when I was born, I love to eat! With that in mind, I love to cook as well! I am the guy that tries new things, from spicy to sweet, it’s all good. My favorites, Oriental food, Italian, and Chocolate! Yes, chocolate should totally be in it’s own genre! My sweet tooth is Derby Pie (you have to be from Kentucky), Pecan pie (pronounce pea-can in the south), and German chocolate cake.
Fun? Who doesn’t like to have fun? I like to learn new things for fun. I am a wood turner (I make writing pens out of old barrel wood and logs), I build furniture out of use wine and bourbon barrels, I am a gun enthusiast, and I golf. I mean, I try to golf, but most of the time I play for the amusement of other people.
Through it all, I use everything I have to try and reach as many people as I can for Christ. It’s a passion, and a calling. However, it’s not a profession. I firmly believer that every Christian should be of like mind in this. God gives us all different likes and abilities, and we should all use them for His glory!
